The
first concern when we are experimenting on our blog template is the loosing of previous setting. Especially when we are not
sure about the new one’s tackling. After undergoing a series of adding and
deleting widgets, applying custom templates what if something goes wrong?
So
it is hard to guess what could be wrong especially when you are not proficient
in HTML and CSS. Therefore here is a preemptive measure
for something wrong with your template. All we know how much it’s hard to
sort out problem. So blogger provides
us a useful feature of backing up our template.
After back up, the next step is to restore it. So restore
feature provides the facility to restore your previously backed up template .If
you want to install a new template to
your blog this feature provides you this facility too.

Back Up Your present Template settings
All
your widgets, source code, layouts related to template will
be backed up. However it is interesting to know that this feature doesn't back up your posts and images used in post.
i.
Go to your Blogger dashboard.
ii.Find
your Blog Title
and click.
Iii
Navigate to Template tab
of your blog.
iv.On
the top right corner of your blog page click on Backup/restore on Backup/Restore button .
v. Click Download
full template button and
backup copy of your template will start downloading automatically in XML format (.xml). Keep it in your backup folder.
vi. Close the pop up.
How to Install New Template or Restore Your Old Template
If you want to install new template to your blog or want to restore previously stored blog then follow these steps.
i.
Go to Dashboard of your blog

ii.
Click on your Blog Title.
iii. Jump to Template tab.
iv. Click on Backup/Restore button on top right.
iv.
Find Choose File button and
click on it. Browse for your new template’s/ backup XML template file
(with.xml extension) and click Open button after
selecting it.
v.
Now click Upload button.
vi. Close the
backup/restore window, after the installation/restoration of your template.
